The Christina Quarles show at the MCA Chicago was likely one of the best painting shows I saw this year. The pandemic really put a wrench in my blog posts but thankfully this show is up until January. I found the early work most exciting, it took greater risks compositionally and with paint handling. As usual I have plenty of details so I'll spread this show out over several posts so we can all enjoy.
