Sandy Walker writes about the paintings in his current show at
Elizabeth Harris GalleryMy work is often about place and more recently about the human in nature. For many years I have spent significant periods of time in the Stehekin Valley of Washington State, a place where my wife’s family bought a cabin when she was still very young. Stehekin has influenced me deeply, and yet I do not believe that my work is as much descriptive of the place as it is about its spirit and about place as a pathway to a deeper understanding of nature, its themes, its essences.
