I'm ambivalent, about Austin Lee's show at Postmasters, but these two paintings, for better or worse, are sticking with me. Jerry Saltz refers to the work as Guston-meets- graffiti-meets-computer-graphics. They begin in the digital terrain and get made in the physical world of painting, the digital remains manifest in the palette and the range of photographic tropes which all gets processed through the process of painting. Like I said, they're sticking with me.
