Henry Taylor's paintings show Philando Castile's fatal shooting by a police officer last year. We see Philando in the car, dead or dying, frozen in the history of painting like David's
Marat. The "4th" might be Philando before, two days before his death, grilling in the back yard with his wife in the background. Formally satisfying, chromatically intense, these paintings are some of the strongest in the show.
